Dallas Clayton - Endless

Saturday, March 21st, 2009

The latest Guest Ed in The Skateboard Mag #62 is Dallas Clayton. He brings a solid message and his writing style delivers.

For those that have been sleeping Dallas Clayton is a talented writer and has been featured on The Berrics for awhile now. His writings come with his own illustrations and his graphical style compliments his writings well. Get over to The Berrics and check out his More Popular Than You series.

Back to what prompted this post, the latest Skateboard Mag Guest Ed. I love what this Guest Ed Endless is about. Its really good. Read that below.

ENDLESS
You should learn to skateboard.
It is cheap and fun.
It is something you can do when you are alone
or with friends.
Once you learn, you can hang out late at night in parking lots for hours and hours
(and you don’t even have to be high).
Also you can talk to others about skateboarding
and it will make them think you are cool
and they will give you things
like free stickers, or invitations to parties
with lots of guys at them.

If you get good
you can jump over all sorts of things
like cars, and European streets, and statues, and off small buildings.
and people will take pictures of you
which is nice (for later, to show your kids)

If you get really good,
maybe someone will pay you
to take pictures, and make videos of you jumping off all sorts of crap
and they will put you on billboards
and benches where homeless people sleep
and your name will be on thousands of pairs of shoes.
Maybe you will have a video game with you in it
or a TV show where you shoot your friends with weapons.

Or maybe not.

Maybe you will just keep doing it and no one will really care how good you are
and you will just use your skateboard to ride down the street
to buy some beer
when your “old lady” takes off with the car.

It’s up to you I guess.
Like anything else.
But you should definitely learn.
It will be worth it
in the long run.

I promise.

Girl Gets Creative Nod

Girl

Creativity profiles Girl Skateboards.

Outside the world of skateboarding, it is often referred to as “the skateboard company that Spike Jonze owns.” But Girl Skateboards is not some eccentric pet project of an Oscar-nominated director.

Founded in 1993, Girl made an immediate impact on the business and culture of skateboarding. Pro skaters Rick Howard and Mike Carroll left sponsorships with then superstar-packed Plan B skateboards and teamed up with friends Jonze and Megan Baltimore to start a company with a vision of the sport and lifestyle that was their own. They brought a who’s who list of skaters with them, including Tim Gavin, Rudy Johnson, Eric Koston and Guy Mariano, to ride for the company’s team and things haven’t slowed down since.

The Media Dazzles With I-Get-It Brilliance!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

The Blade released their interview on the event today. We met with their writer who focused on art happenings in Toledo. For the most part the article isn’t as bad as it could be, but we all know for a fact that outside of skateboarding, people just don’t get us, or it.

Skateboard artworks capture joy of sport

In the small, fiercely independent world of skateboarding, art and athletics intersect.

“It’s a sport that intertwines perfectly with art; there’s an individuality you have in both,” said Michael Paulus, 34, skateboarder, artist, and coproducer of “Just Inspired.” This new exhibit is an homage to the young sport that exhilarates its athletes with speed, a sense of freedom, and moments of airborne weightlessness.
